This paper examines two techniques which have potentials for rapid sheet metal forming. The two techniques are dieless sheet metal forming and sheetmetal forming using reconfigurable tooling. For each technology, the mechanics of the manufacturing process, the equipment required, Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system, accuracy achieved and the economics are discussed. The research issues are also given consideration.

 Dear O. Owodunni

I have a few questions to ask you:

The limitation of concept rapid tooling is the the low out put (quantity of output ) and the diamension size to be fabricated is limited. How these problem could be solved ?

How about the production cost of producing sheet metal at low quantity using this method compare to conventional once?

Many thanks
