Semantic-based Representation and Retrieval of Content Using Concept Indexing
Previous research indicates the need for a new generation of enterprise search technology capable of managing and extracting knowledge from large Intranet and Internet collections of unstructured text. This paper addresses this challenge by proposing a semantic-based representation of content using entities and concepts. Central to this approach is the idea of concept indexing, which involves identifying instances and abstract ideas within a text document, and linking words to ontological concepts. The paper describes the concept indexing model and framework proposed as well as the concept knowledge base developed. The approach is illustrated through examples showing its applicability to enterprise knowledge management.
