Powder Application Variables

Powder Application Variables

Variables to considered in order to achieve high FPTE includes:
·        Part conveying and orientation
·        Canopy design
·        Gun-to-part distance
·        Applied powder-volume pressure
·        Nozzle design
·        Powder pump and fluidising
·        Gun design
·        Applied gun current and voltage
·        Booth airflow

Information on these variables and the way they can affect first-pass transfer efficiency are discussed in most powder coating books. However, in this paper the following four variables were examined: powder-volume pressure (KPa), workpiece rotation speed, gun-to-part distance (mm) and gun current (micro amps).
