  • In this paper, a NN approach is employed to reconstruct the stress-strain curve of an AISI 1010 C steel on the basis of tensile tests experimental data.
  • A new method for synthesizing the NN performance is proposed.
  • According to this procedure, 3 material parameters representing the true stress-strain curve are identified: strain hardening factor, thermal softening factor and strain rate sensitivity factor.
  • The product of the 3 factors for each strain, temperature and strain rate yields the true stress in the material. As the NN learning data are derived from tests on the real material, the 3 factors synthesize the overall material rheological behaviour in its physical meaning.
  • These factors are used in the FEM code instead of the usual material constitutive equations. Thus, the real physical effects of strain hardening, strain rate and temperature dependencies of the work material are accounted for in the FEM analysis
