Neural Network based model for measuring the effects of total quality management practices on business performance of SMEs.

authors: Selim Zaim, Ali Turkyilmaz, Tulay Korkusuz Polat

The principal aim of this study is to determine the impact of total quality management (TQM) on organizational performance of SMEs. Based on theoretical considerations, a model is proposed linking the TQM constructs to the organizational performance construct. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses empirically verified and validated the underlying dimensions of MO, TQM and organizational performance. Neural networks were employed to test the model drawing on a sample of 141 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Turkey. A strong and positive relationship was noted between the level of TQM implementation and organizational performance.

Dear Authors,

Thank you for your paper. On page two of your paper, you mentioned that explanatory factor analysis was performed on 20 items measuring TQM practices and the analysis produced "seven factors which explained 78.6 percent of observed variances". What are the other factors, other that the seven you investigated in your questionnaires?

Thank you

Adebayo
