Mapping of tasks to robots and vice versa
A reconfigurable robot can be easily reconfigured for the manufacturing of quite different products, while the usual industrial robots can be used only for a very limited variation of the same product. In addition, it is expected that a reconfigurable robot can perform complicated task where more than one traditional robot is necessary. Slide 4 illustrates the differences between reconfigurable and traditional robots in the mapping of the tasks to robots and vice versa.
