System parameter: A parameter whose value affects all or most of the components in the product structure; Interface parameter: A parameter whose value affects at least two components engineered by different contractors in the supply chain; System and interface parameters are linked to product structure components that are affected by the parameter value, persons (roles) that must have a say on the generation or modification of the parameter value and a process definition for parameter approval and release (one process template for all parameters!).
