Hardware structure of tangible acoustic interface systems

 
Designing ergonomic interfaces for man machine interaction is a major task for today’s computer design engineers. A new type of tangible man-machine interface which is based on acoustics is being developed. Such a tangible acoustic interface system usually consists of multiple acoustic sensors for detecting impact, a signal conditioning circuit for collecting the acoustic signals and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for acoustic signal processing and computing the location of the acoustic sources. This paper briefly outlines the operating principle of tangible acoustic interfaces and describes the hardware structures of such interfaces.
