Powder coating is an advanced method of applying decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industries and consumers. The concept of electrostatic powder coating was first introduced in Britain in 1962, while it originated in the USA in the 1950s. The concept offered the advantages that the process do not utilise solvents and so was attractive from the environmental point of view. In addition, oversprayed powder could be collected and recycled thus making it a cheaper option in comparison to existing electrostatic painting technology
