Intelligent software agents as a basis for collaborative manufacturing systems

I agree that security is a critical topic. In the european MaBE project the basic security mechanisms for message based security developed by Fipa have been adopted. Further issues like reputation building mechanisms and trust in general are being researched by the project partners.
The matter is, that although there is a lot of work available on trust, there is no ready to use solution available for business applications. Agent-oriented systems however offer a very attractive way for implementing these features.

I can feel that this is a big project. One of my big concern is security issues. How can we be sure that it is safe from malicious activities? Because this whole system involves many parties and applications. Thanks.
