IEC 61499 as a reference model for reconfigurable distributed control at real-time level

The configuration of a distributed automation and control system based on IEC 61499 can be enabled by the use of management functions which can be included in each device. For this purpose the standard defines a management application, represented by a device manager FB. With the use of this FB combined with a remote application, which is described in the IEC 61499 Compliance Profile for Feasibility Demonstrations, access between different IEC 61499 compliant devices is allowed.
