From RADs to Riches? A Pragmatic Approach to New Product Development Process Improvement

authors: John Keast, Vinesh Raja, Saurin Badiyani

Work to develop a data model and supporting software to enhance the Role Activity Diagramming notation is described. It is argued that the underlying data model is more important than the graphical process notation chosen as data can be used to provide translations from one notation to another and also to provide interoperability between related software tools. A pragmatic but structured process improvement method is described, and two brief case studies where the approach and software have been used successfully, are given.

Dear authors,

Thank you for contributing this paper to IPROMS 2007 Virtual Conference. In order to achieve effective result, do you think manufacturing firms embarking on process improvement programme should setup in-house process improvement teams or should consultants be brought in to help drive the process improvement initiative in view of limited resources and time?
