Decision Support System for Virtual Organization Management

The Decision Support System (DSS) for Virtual Organization Management is a component of the Virtual Organization (VO) management toolkit, which is being developed in the ECOLEAD project. The DSS mainly supports VO operational and strategic management by simulated rescheduling and reconfiguration of a VO. Such simulations allow “what-if-analysis”, verifying and comparing various configurations and their robustness, discovering possible bottlenecks, and pre-preparing potential adaptations of VO configuration and schedule. The outputs are presented in a “human-friendly” wa

Collaborative production scheduling

Companies need continuously improving their ability to make good decisions. This highly depends on the availability or access to good the management methods. Potentially, for improving decision making, a company could use important distributed knowledge globally available if it could easily access it through adequate platforms and computer networks. In this paper this idea is explored, in the context of production scheduling, through the concept of collaborative scheduling based on P2P networks. In these networks each peer may supply and receive production scheduling services. A prototype of a collaborative production scheduler designed with the support of the JXTA platform and XML technology is presented and described.

Research on the Model of Petri-net-based Organization Design of Virtual Enterprise

Virtual enterprise is organization formal of digital manufacturing based on network environment. In this paper, the key elements in the process of organization design of Virtual Enterprise are obtained by analyzing the characteristic and mode of the life cycle of Virtual Enterprise and the model of the organization structure of Virtual Enterprise is presented. The dynamic and intercurrent building process of Virtual Enterprise is described by using the theories of Petri net. And then a workflow-net model of Petri-net-based organization design of Virtual Enterprise is proposed. At last, the cor

Manufacturing grid resource service scheduling based on trust-QoS

Current research works to grid quality of service (QoS) such as QoS modeling, QoS evaluation, QoS-based scheduling, etc., are mainly concentrating on the grid performance QoS attributes, but the trust-QoS attributes are ignored. The related works about manufacturing grid (MGrid) and QoS are investigated firstly. Then the classification and modelling of QoS in MGrid are investigated. The measurement and evaluation model of trust-QoS parameters in MGrid are presented. A trust-QoS based MGrid resource service scheduling framework is proposed. An application prototype, namely “Magnetic Bearing Resources Sharing & Service Platform under Manufacturing Grid”, is developed. It validates the proposed scheduling and algorithms.

The Continuous Enterprise View Model (CEVM) for Virtual Enterprises

The virtual enterprise (VE) that is the collaborative partnership to increase competitiveness, to optimize resource utilization and to take advantages of the complementary capabilities of the business partners, have a shorter lifespan to be succeeded. The goal of this paper is to present a new modelling framework, which is focused on the agility and the effectiveness of the virtual enterprise models, for the virtual enterprise. This framework is used for designing the business components and the collaborative business processes across the life-cycle of the virtual enterprise. This framework al
