FE Analysis of a Splitting Rod Rolling Pass
Authors: Francesco Lambiase, Fabrizio Capece, Massimo Durante, Antonio Langella
Abstract
The chief rolling designer's goal is the reduction of the number of passes accounting the process technological limits. Therefore, many efforts are spending to develop new types of passes with higher elongation ratios, just like split sequences.
The present paper has analyzed a two-step split sequence used by a company which produces rebars for reinforced concrete. The experimental data were used to validate a FE model; then, as the experimental rolled bars presented material overflowing (the material flows outside the rolls groove), the FE model was used to adjust the rolls groove geometries.
