Evolutionary Approach to Measure Production Performance
In order to compete on global markets today’s production needs to keep track and continuously optimize its performance. It is crucial for a performance measurement system to enable to a general survey fast, so that trends can be identified timely in advance. Generally a broad set of performance indicators forms the basis of such a system. By combining these measures with benchmarking and target-setting a successful system for assessing and improving performance can be established. The BETTI® Benchmark (Benchmark Tool to Improve the Production Performance) is such an exemplary performance measurement system. In order to increase its effectiveness it has recently been extended by continuously including the experience and knowledge attained in previous benchmarks into the analysis. Additionally it allows appraising the consequences of actions targeted at improving production performance.

OEE is actualy one of the performance Indicators we are using. The benchmarking method was established to identify potentials in production and I suggest maintenance to be an often overlooked but yet very important potential. Most companies are mainly interested in receiving realistic performance ratings from other companies in order to evaluate their own performance. Most times they know how much effort it takes to keep up with best practice and thus they neglect to be best performers in every category. In some case one simply doesn't know how good production is doing and maintenance is definetly one of these factors. Therefore it simply has to be included into every performance measurement system. Especially the OEE is a good indicator compressing information on quality and maintenance.

Thank you for this nice paper. But there is still sound is missing in your presentation.
It looks like the evaluation is the key step in the whole process. As far as I can understand, as a key process, you are not mentioning about the evaluation part. Regarding this issue, what is your evaluation techniques in this model?

Nice work, I notice that the video is without sound.
A question: Your opinion on using OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency or Effectiviness) in benchmarking of performance. The OEE method is based on TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
