Keywords : cooperative research, manufacturing technologies

This article presents a model for collaborative research and development of advanced manufacturing systems, being known as the CIC marGUNE (Cooperative Research Centre for High Performance Manufacturing), placed in the Basque Country and composed for universities, technological centres and machine-tool companies. The article describes its mission, main objectives, proposed paradigms, structure and modus operandi. The projects being carried out to date are explained. An overall assessment of results (industrial and scientific) so far is also given.

As a co-chairman, I would like to congratulate your organization for having such extensive collaborative
research on new manufacturing technologies. If possible,
I would like to know whether your organisation carried out a return of investment for all projects from this collaborative environment.

Thank you.

Really, the big problem is that how companies make use of the common research, and return some of the money to the CIC. There are two ways:

- The 10% of the final benefits are for the CIC, as ideas developed by the common research
- Other agreements can be signed depending on the company support during the project.

By date, some ideas are in the phase of being industrialised.

Dear Sir,

Interesting your work, can you send more information abiut the Laser project, and materials that are being used in this technique.

Did you use Laser STS or Stellite?.

Sincerely

The CIC margune is only a Spanish project, isn´t it?, I don´t see the web in english.

I have understood, the Diapason project is a real project similar to the big ones in Europe and Japan, to reach all the links of the engineering desing of machine tools and users.

In my opinion it is a worthly vision of research in machining, go on and have a good luck!!

It will be interesting if you can give us some information about it.

Sincerely,

We have good relations by means of the NEXT IP and IPROMS Noe, and also the interreg action: AERSOFIN www.aerosfin.org

Margune is open to work in the ERANET context, and it is the Basque Contact Point for the VII FP

Please, get inside the www.ehu.es/manufacturing for more information

Dear Sir,

Reference to your question, you can find more information in

www.margune.org
or

www.ehu.es/manufacturing/en-lineas-laser-aportacion.php

Actually we are developing an automatic repair system for die and mould industry, based on a high power diode laser and wire feeding. We have good results in DIN 1.2379 tool steel with wire feeding.
