Applications of RULES-3 Induction System

Applications of RULES-3 Induction System

M.S. Aksoy

King Saud University, Riyadh, SA

In recent years, there has been a growing amount of research on inductive learning. Out of this research a number of promising algorithms have surfaced. Inductive learning algorithms are domain independent. In principle, they can be used in any task involving classification or pattern recognition. There have been several successful applications of inductive learning systems. In the paper a number of applications of RULES-3 induction algorithm are presented.

Several applications of the RULES3 algorithm in different domains have been mentioned. From your experience, what are the features of successful applications of RULES3 in these domains?

I would also very grateful if you can explain how the templete matching technique works?

As you know, there are many latest and recent RULES family algorithm versions which have been produced for the last 5 years.

RULES-3 algorithm is an old and very simple algorithm. What I have read is just applications to this algorithm, but I am wondering if you have carried out some works to improve this algorithm to cope with the recent algorithms in the series where the results should improve to good extend?

More information about template matching technique can be found in the following paper:

To be simple is a good feauture for RULES-3. This paper is about the applications of the algorithm for years. And as it can be seen from the results in the paper, its efficiency is very good for all applications. The aim of this paper is not to compare RULES-3 with its decendants. It can be  a subject for another paper.
