Application of the Bees Algorithm to PCB assembly optimisation

This paper discusses the application of the Bees Algorithm to the solution of two common problems associated with a printed circuit board assembly machine, namely, feeder arrangement and component placement sequencing. Computational experiments show that the Bees Algorithm gives a significant reduction in assembly time compared to the results obtained with the Genetic Algorithm and Evolutionary Programming on a benchmark assembly task.
