5 Video Exposure Monitoring (VEM) – 1/3
Applying methods and technology similar to AR can improve user comprehension of the real world environment as augmented images can provide information which cannot be seen in the real world. Exposure to some environmental factors is difficult to sense with human sense organs. Airborne contaminants can have a harmful effect on both products (contamination) and workers (occupational health). As airborne contaminants are normally invisible it is not easy to consider these factors during the development of the production environment.
The visualisation of invisible variables in the video picture can help to discover dependence between visible events and some easily measurable, but not visible variable. The PIMEX method (abbreviation for PIcture Mixed EXposure) is successfully used to visualise invisible physical variables. The basis of the PIMEX method was developed at the National Institute for Working Life in Sweden.
